What are Cold Weather Payments and do I qualify?
Cold Weather Payments are made when there is consistent cold weather.
Payments are issued if the outside temperature is recorded as, or forecast to be, an average of 0°C or below over seven consecutive days.
To receive these payments you must be eligible.
To qualify you must:
- have a state pension or receive another social security benefit (but not Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Child Benefit or Universal Credit).
How much are payments?
If you qualify, you’ll get a payment of £25 for each seven-day period of very cold weather between 1 November and 31 March.
